Gamo Big Cat Air Rifle Review

The Gamo Big Cat 1250 Air Rifle comes with 4 x 32 rifle scope that facilitates the hunting experience. This is a great choice especially for beginners. Aside from affordability, this particular air rifle carries accuracy thanks to its .177 caliber specs.

First Impression

Upon acquiring the Gamo Big Cat 1250, I’d have to say that it was a surprise. It was my first time purchasing a Gamo product, and it ultimately did not disappoint. I do prefer to have the old wood stock design, but this $140 air rifle convinced me to give something else a try. The stock was made of polymer material that may not be as aesthetically pleasing as wood, but it can handle different types of weather.

The product weighs approximately 6.1 pounds and measures around 43 inches. The overall design of the manufacturer made it possible for both left-handed and right-handed shooters to use the air rifle with ease.

Upon first inspection, I’d say that this is a very bland-looking air rifle. It doesn’t look special; however, you can say that at $140, it is still a great purchase.

Gamo Big Cat .177 Reviews

If you ever take the Gamo Big Cat 1250 Air Rifle hunting, you will want to take note that the scope has maximum effectiveness of around 15 meters. Anything further 20 meters, you’d have to use your hunting and shooting experience than rely on it.

As for the trigger, it is great to see the trigger a bit longer. This way, you feel the air rifle shooting. In contrast to other air rifles that I tried, such as the Crosman, I’d say that I prefer shooting the Gamo Big Cat 1250. Pulling the trigger, I found that it doesn’t generate too much noise. It also comes with a manual safety that you can turn on or off. It is not automatic, thus you have to remember to put it on safety if you are not using it.

When it comes to the power of the Gamo Big Cat 1250, it has its pros and cons. For one, the gun generates around 1150 fps.  Though this is already decent firepower for its size, design and price range, it doesn’t come close with 1250. Does the name live up to the fire power? Definitely not. But if you are on a budget and in need of an air rifle with that range of firepower, it is definitely a good purchase for you.

Overall, the Gamo Big Cat 1250 is an entry level air rifle. If you are still not sure if you’d enjoy hunting as a hobby, then this is the right product for you. It is fairly easy to cock and load the pellets, and for only $140, you get a fair amount of fire power with this air rifle. Handling is also pretty easy given the 6.1 lb weight of the product. Lastly, although no silencing or a front sight are present in the design, both of which come in handy during hunting, it still makes the no-nonsense design a great choice.
