Why Purchase the Crosman 760 Pumpmaster
This air rifle is both a BB gun and a pellet rifle and is a great purchase if you are looking for something for young shooters or people just getting into the hobby. This model is considered full-scale, but is small enough for youngsters to use as well. At less than 3 pounds, it’s also light enough for a young shooter.
One of the great things about the Crosman 760 Pumpmaster is that this two-in-one equipment can use a 18-shot BB magazine or the 5-shot pellet magazine. It can also has a 200 BB reservoir preventing you from needing to constantly reload when you are out plinking.
This is truly a pellet gun built to last. It doesn’t have the sophistication of the really high end air rifles, but that means there are less things that can go wrong. Additionally, the pneumatic power source means that you will not have to replace a spring or lose significant power over time.
With a rating of around 3.5 out of 5 on Amazon , and a $30 starting price, it is one of the best buys you can make. For a little bit more, you can also purchase a kit (see image link below) that includes BBs, pellets, targets and protective glasses.
What To Expect
Expect that the Crosman 760 Pumpmaster is a beginner gun for hobbyists, but also can also be used for some basic hunting and pest control services. If you’re looking to take down a rat or squirrel in the backyard, you’ll be ok. If you’re looking to shoot a rabbit, it might not do what you want. In reality, the Crosman 760 Pump Master is an entry-level BB gun and pellet gun. The accuracy you are going to get with this product is not really on par with some of the best on the market, but it’s not wildly inaccurate either. The barrel is not rifled, which can make the BB or the pellet wander when you shoot longer distances. If you’re shooting cans or pests at a reasonable distance, you shouldn’t have any problems.
In terms of the overall construction, the pump action for this gun is not really the most user friendly. With a short forearm pump, if you are used to having air rifles that provide you with better leverage, you’ll notice it’s a little hard to pump to the full 10 pumps. This is great for young shooters, as it prevents them from building up too much power. For adults and young adults, you’ll notice you will have to put some muscle into it to get up to 10 pumps.
TheCrosman 760 Pump Master Construction is reasonably solid but is lightweight. At the weight of a few pounds and a little under 3 feet in length, you wont have a difficult time carrying it. However, in terms of stability, you may have to hold it firmly to get your shot straight.
Why would you want to invest in this gun? For one thing, it has enough power to be effective for its purpose, which is to control pests or to be used for hobby purposes. Secondly, it is cheap. Though you can buy high-end air rifles on the market or high-end BB guns worth over $120 each, you can have this for roughly $30. In terms of construction, despite having a plastic body, it is still a good buy considering that you do not have to worry about the wear and tear factor of the spring.
Best of Both Worlds
Though not high end to any degree for a BB gun or a pellet rifle, this can still be a good buy. If you are having trouble with rodents or pests, you can easily load it and target them. Of course, you need to realize that there are some cons not specific to both BBs and hunting or killing pests. In fact, shooting BBs with the Crosman 760 Pump Master can be quite hard. Due to the construction of the air rifle, the BBs may not hit the target accurately. At least if you are on a tight budget, you can just shell out 30 bucks and get the best deal on this.
Crosman 760 Pumpmaster Review Conclusion
The most important thing about the Crosman 760 Pump Master is that it is friendly to the budget while it can still meet what you are looking for in a pellet or a BB gun. Though it is considered as an entry level piece of equipment whether for the plinking or for hunting, this is still a really good buy that you could have.
A lot of users online have mentioned that they’ve been using the Crosman 760 for many years and it still hasn’t failed them in any way (this is the case with the one my son has owned for over 10 years). If you have minimal requirements and are just purchasing the product for a few rodents that you see on your property, then this is the perfect product for you. However, if your aspiration is to use a highly accurate rifle for competitive shooting, you’re looking in the wrong price range. Considering the sophistication of other BB guns on the market today, this may not be that good by comparison. However, because of its price and the velocity it generates, this is a very solid purchase.
